About me

What You Need to Know

I have always loved puzzles. Trying to figure out which pieces go where and how they all relate to each other in some way was riveting for me. Perhaps it then poses no shock that I find a sense of calm when I research people and their heritage. The action of digging through what feels like hundreds or thousands of documents, photos and personal accounts to then finally be able to piece it all together like a giant puzzle will forever be thrilling for me.

I wasn't able to fully immerse myself in the world of heritage from a perspective other than a visitor until I completed a work experience program back in 2014 at Peterborough Museum. I was based in the Education Department and I thoroughly loved every single second of it. My placement only lasted two weeks, but within minutes of my first day I knew I was hooked and eagerly put my name forward to become a volunteer. I have been volunteering ever since and eventually was able to also volunteer at the other sites looked after by the Vivacity charity, which includes: Longthorpe Tower, Flag Fen and Peterborough Cathedral.

Unfortunately I realised that volunteering alone would not be able to secure me the career I could only dream of, therefore I knew a degree would be necessary.

I graduated from the University of Worcester with a 2:1 BSc degree in Archaeology and Heritage Studies with a Minor in History in August 2020. And will be saving up in order to attend an MA course in Heritage Management in September 2021.

I want to achieve so much more within the world of academia and heritage and will update this page every time I get a step closer to achieving my goal.
